How to create new E-mail Template in salesforce : In this salesforce tutorial we are going to learn how to create new E-mail template in salesforce, what are the different types of e-mail templates. In our previous salesforce training tutorial we learned how to create new account in salesforce.
Now we are going to create new email templates for approval assignments. In salesforce we can create four types of email templates.
- Plain Text e-mail template :- Plain text e-mail templates supports all e-mail clients and it does not support co loured text and graphics in it.
- HTML with letterhead :- HTML with letter head format email templates supports all fonts, images and here we use standard letterhead.
- Visualforce Template:- These type of email templates are created with apex code.
- Custom (without using Letterhead):- Custom email templates supports all HTML and this format will not have letterhead.
When creating approval steps in salesforce we require email template to be assigned to the users to which an e-mail is sent automatically by the salesforce system. In this example we create an e-mail template to notify the users through an e-mail about some criteria in sales process.
To create new E-mail template in salesforce follow the path Setup=>Administer=>Communication Templates=> Email Templates=>New Template.
Select My personal Email Templates folder to save our email templates which we created and select new Template.
After selecting new Template we are taken to new page to select the format of the E-mail Template. Select Text and click Next button.
Select Next button.
In Email Description we may use some fields to be inserted in the body so we use merge field. Merge field can be created if necessary as shown below.
In Step 2 we are required to enter all the details like Folder name , Email Template name, Template unique name, Encoding, Subject and Email Body.
Select Save button after all the details have been entered.
Successfully we have created new email templates for approval assignments.
