In our last salesforce tutorial we learned about Salesforce delegated administration. In this Salesforce Training Tutorial we are going to learn about Salesforce remote site settings.

Accessing external website from salesforce.com can be done using Remote site settings. When we access external website we can able to access that external website resource. Salesforce Remote site settings  can be done in three ways they they are.

  • Visual force pages.
  • Apex Callout.
  • XmlHttpRequest calls.

To access external website remotely in salesforce.com we have to register that website in salesforce.com. In this Salesforce remote site settings tutorial we are going to register http://www.crmsalesforcetraining.com in remote site settings page.

When the registration completes then we use in Salesforce.com. Follow the steps given below.

  • Go to Setup=>Administer=>Security Controls=>Remote Site Settings.

Click on Remote Site Settings link as shown above.

  • Enter Name for Remote site.
  • Enter URL of the external Webpage.
  • Enter Description.
  • Finally click on Save button.

Delegation in management :- In our last Salesforce tutorial we have learned about how to expire all passwords in Salesforce.com. In this Salesforce tutorial we are going to learn about Delegation in management which is Salesforce delegated administration and what is delegated administration in salesforce.

What is Salesforce delegation in management ?

Through Salesforce delegating user management we can share our tasks to users that are not assigned with system administrator. System administrator will do delegated user management in salesforce.com.

Through Salesforce Delegation in management we can save our time and effort. Salesforce delegated user management can be done in two ways. They are

  1. By creating profile and assigning user permissions.
  2. Using delegated administration.

Here we using Salesforce delegated administration to extend certain admin permissions to non administrators. For Salesforce Delegation in management we have to perform three actions. They are

  • Adding user to user administration.
  • Adding profiles to Assignable profiles.
  • Adding objects to Custom object administration.

User administration.

Roles, subordinates, delegated administrators which are added in user administration can edit and create users and also can reset passwords.

Assignable profiles.

Delegated admins can assign only profiles.

Custom object administration

Through custom object administration we can provide certain custom object permissions to delegated administrators.

Salesforce Delegation in management setup.

  • Go to Setup=>Administer=>Security Control=>Delegated Administration.

Click on Delegated Administration and we are taken to new page where we have to create new delegated group in salesforce.com.

  • Select New button to create new delegated group.

  • Enter group name.
  • Select Enable Group check box.
  • click on save button.

  • Go to User administration.
  • Click on Add button.

  • Now add roles and subordinates.
  • Click Save button.

Now we have to Add profiles to the roles and subordinates in assignable profiles section.

  • Go to Assignable profiles.
  • Click on add button.

To provide security to an organization salesforce.com has provided the option to expire all users passwords at any time. Enabling user’s password to expire provides us to enforce extra security to an organization.

System administrator and the user’s who have permission sets can use this feature. When we enable  expire passwords the user’s has to reset their password in their next login session.

Follow the steps given to make all passwords to expire.

  • Go to Setup=>Administer=>Security Control=>Expire all passwords.

Open Salesforce for Social media application .

  • Now go to Social Setup Tab.

Social Setup Tab contains facebook and Twitter social media accounts. Through Social setup only we can add new facebook account to Salesforce.com account.

  • Select Facebook link as shown below.
  • Now select New link for Adding Facebook Account to Salesforce.com.

When we click on new new we are redirect to new page where we have enter name and click on save button.

Now click on the name that you created from above step.

Now we have to grant facebook access with salesforce.com. Click on Grant facebook Access to add facebook to salesforce.com

Facebook integration with salesforce are mainly done to get all notifications, conversations and updates of facebook directly to salesforce.com account with out opening facebook account. Integration of facebook with salesforce can be done using app exchange.There are several free apps available for us to use in salesforce.com. let me explain how Facebook integration with salesforce can be done step by step.

  • Sign in to your Salesforce.com accoutn using username and password.
  • Now go to application menu which is at top on right side about tab menu.
  • Select app exchange from drop down.
  • Now we are redirected to http://appexchange.salesforce.com Url as shown below.

Now go to search bar on the app exchange and search for Salesforce for Facebook app as shown below.

Now list of all application in app exchange that can be used for facebook integration are displayed. Select Salesforce for Twitter and Facebook and  click on it.

Now we have to download and install Salesforce for  twitter and facebook application in to our salesforce.com account so click on Get it Now button to download.

A confirmation page will be opened to confirm the installation. Click on confirm and install button as shown below.

we have to select users, admin or profiles to which this installation is to be done. Here we selected facebook to install for all users in our organization. Select the users and click on Install button.

Facebook integration with salesforce will take some time. When installation complete we can get email.

In our previous Salesforce tutorials we have learned about Tracking history for collaborator goals in salesforce.com. In this Salesforce Training Tutorial we are going to learn abou Configuring Field level security for key company goals in salesforce.com.

In Salesforce, key company goals are used to dispaly the company wide goals to every user in an organization. Comapny goals are the part of work.com  so we are giving field level access to work.com administrator and othr other users for creating key company goals.

To configure key company goals in salesforce.com follow the steps given below.

Go to Setup=>Customize=>Work.com=>Goals=>Fields.

Click on Fields to configure security settings as shown above.

Now we are taken to new page called Goal Standard Fields. Go to Is key Comapany Goal field and click on it.Configuring Field Level Security for Key Company Goals

Now click on Set Field-Level Security button as shown below.

Now we have to select visibility check box and make sure we should not select Read only check box. Select Field levle security visibility check box. When we select Read only check box for profiles we are not able to create key company goals in Salesforce.comkey company goals2
 Finally click on Save button to save all settings.
